Chronicles of a Migraine Sufferer
Words flow from my finger tips, the pain can't steal that from me...

Bio:I am a 30-something, who has a history of migraines. I have what are referred to as Chronic Daily Migraines. This means I don't have a day with out pain. I have been to a number of doctors, as I have lived in NY, NC and GA. For three years I was a patient at the Duke Pain Clinic and under the care of a neuro there. I spent a week on the Neuro floor at Duke in November 2003 for the DHE45 protocol. I have also been treated with various IV meds to try and relieve the pain.

I am not a huge proponent of using medications, but there are days I wish I could take something and make the pain stop. Currently, as I am TTC (trying to conceive), I am not on any preventatives. My preventive history is a sore spot with me, as I can not currently take the one med that helped (Topamax, as it is not for use during pregnancy/TTC), and none of the others have made a dent. I currently take Tramadol for pain relief, which is a prn (as needed) med. I am currently trying DHE 45 nasal spray, as my neuro had samples so I wouldn't have to pay if they didn't work. I am also currently waiting my consult appointment for Botox injections to the scalp, to see if that procedure will aid in pain reduction, and help give me a better quality of life.

My goal, reduced pain. My dream, to be pain free and have a better quality of life, so I can become a a productive member of society again. I want to be a good wife to my husband, a good mom to my four legged child and look forward to becoming a mother to a two legged one;)

This will be a public journal, as I am writing this as part of me working with WEGOHealth. If you are not a member of WEGO Health, please feel free to ask me questions as I am a Community Leader on the forums.

The editor in me hates the following idea, but I may roll with it for a bit. I will not spell check my entries, as my spelling gets worse the more pain I am in.

Anything else, please ask. My life with migraines is an open book... now on with the brain pains...
